Safe-Move is delighted to have chosen to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at its annual team event in March 2012. The air ambulance was chosen as our charity for the evening through feedback from a group of 50 customers and Safe-Move team members.
Safe-Move is proud to be a member of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Business Supporters Network.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance has two helicopters that operate from Leeds-Bradford Airport and Bagby Airfield near Thirsk. They provide a rapid air response to a population of 5 million spread over 4 million acres. Yorkshire has a vast topography that not only includes remote, rural and densely populated areas but also includes major motorways and road networks such as the M62, M1, A1 and M18. The fast medical response that the air ambulance service provides is vital to a patient who has received major trauma, especially those with head and spinal injuries, as the air ambulance can avoid traffic congestion and uneven road surfaces.
On average, when a patient has been received by the YAA, they will always be only 10 minutes from the nearest hospital and 15 minutes from the most relevant treatment centre. In some cases, this can save people's lives.
At our event on 23rd March Safe-Move will be holding a raffle to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and any donations of prizes would be gratefully received. Last year we raised a massive £880 for Candlelighters, a childrens leukaemia charity based at Leeds General Infirmary with the help of raffle prizes donated by amongst others Landmark Environmental, Cadbury Chocolate and the WOW awards.
